Did you know that you must re-register your aircraft soon? The process has already begun using a "phased in" approach based upon your How will you know? Look on your registration card or go to the FAA website and look up your aircraft number. If you miss your re-registration period, you may have to go through a lengthy and costly renewal process (or) it's very possible that you could lose your registration altogether for up to 5 years. In fact, if your aircraft was registered in March of ANY year, you only have until January 31, 2011 to re-register it. The good news is that FAA is supposed to notify you beforehand. January 16, 2011 Meeting
After a week of snow and ice throughout much of South Carolina,
Sunday, January 16th, turned out to be a beautiful day to hold our first
chapter meeting of 2011. The meeting began with a chili meal. Randy &
Libby Berry contributed the chili and trimmings, Eddie Price provided
his "delicious PBA tea" and ice, Larry Maner's wife sent cornbread
muffins, Glenn and Kelsie Temples brought banana pudding, and Don
Schmotzer brought some soft drinks. Thanks
to all who contributed.
Do you know someone who has an interest in EAA,
our chapter, and/or aviation in general, but isn't quite ready or can't quite afford
it? If so, do you know about EAA's 6-month FREE
trial membership? That's right ... 6 months free! You can help them get
one. Click the icon above for further details.
Then, we held the business meeting in which we approved
annual EAA and website expenses, discussed upcoming events, and finalized
the purchase of
chapter shirts. Finally, members were allowed to introduce themselves in
"round robin" style, to comment on the current state of our chapter, and
to make suggestions on improvements and activities for the upcoming
year. The prevailing view seemed to be that our chapter is doing great
and growing, so we need to continue on our present course. We'll plan
specific activities as the year progresses.
We had planned to have a presentation by Ron Johnson on "airport
communications", but the weather was so nice that members were anxious to go
flying, so we adjourned the meeting about 4:00pm and several members
flew to Trenton. All in all, it was a great day and members enjoyed some great comradeship. For photos
