Our 2011 "Tree Top Flyers Fall Fly-in" will be held on Saturday, November 5th from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm at Gaston Airport (2SC8). In case of bad weather, the alternate date for the event is the following day, Sunday, November 6th. Although no one will be turned away, this will be a very laid back event mostly for pilots and aviation enthusiasts. You can fly (or drive) in, meet old friends, make new friends, chat about aircraft, eat lunch, just hang out, and then fly out at your leisure. We plan to offer a lunch of hamburgers with all the trimmings (e.g. tomato, lettuce, onion, catsup, mustard), hotdogs with chili and onions, french fries, soft drinks, tea, and dessert for lunch on a donation basis from noon until around 2:00pm. Airport traffic advisories will be given on 122.9. A spot landing contest will be held upon landing with a cash award presented around lunch time. We also plan to have a 50/50 raffle. Come join us for a great time and some good fellowship!
11/4/2011 Update: The weather for Saturday is forecast to be sunny with winds of 16mph out of the NNE. Click below for the forecast at Gaston Airport.
AVIATION PAINTING REPRODUCTION AWARDS
Aviation artist, Raymond Paul Moats, member of EAA Chapter 1079, has graciously donated 3 reproductions of paintings on canvas to be awarded as prizes at our fly-in. We thank Mr. Moats for his generosity. You may find out more about him and his art work at www.artflight.us. You must fly in to be awarded one of these reproductions. We plan to give the pilot who flies the farthest distance to our fly-in his/her choice of the reproductions. We'll decide the basis for award of the other paintings later. The reproductions are:
A BRIEF HISTORY
Our past fly-ins have been quite successful. Our 2009 fall fly-in can be summed up in just one word ... GREAT!!! We had great weather, great food, great folks, and great fellowship. We could not have had better weather for the event ... severe clear, nice temperature, and very light winds! All the feedback we've received indicates that everyone had a wonderful time. The weather spoiled our 2010 fall event a bit. We had reasonably good attendance on Saturday, but Sunday was spoiled by dense fog and low ceilings until around 2:30pm. Hopefully, the weather will be nice this year.

Everyone had a good time just sitting around joking and chatting.

We wish to thank all of you who attended our past fly-ins for helping to make them successful.
